Success Story: Audio Video Security Systems, Inc.

Audio Video Security Systems, Inc., a small but expanding full service security systems provider applied for an Employed Worker Training (EWT) grant from Workforce Alliance in order to realize a goal of training its existing workforce to expand its capabilities in the alarm business.

The company needed to provide the training for three of its employees and faced a training cost of over $6,500. With the assistance of a Workforce Alliance account manager, AVS secured an Employed Worker Training (EWT) grant of $3,118 to cover nearly half of the total cost.

At the conclusion of the training, the employees became skilled and certified in additional specialties and the company had a workforce that increased its competitive ability in an industry having ever-changing technological requirements.

Lee Barnard, AVS’s project estimator and senior technician, attended training that increased the level of his industry certification, making the company more competitive in the government/commercial bidding process.

Steve DeShocka, the company’s primary bench technician, took training that expanded his skills in alarm installations and maintenance, and Larry Sanchez, AVS’s most recently hired technician, needed the training to expand his skills and knowledge in the industry.

“In summary,” said AVS President Rosemarie A. Ingui, “the EWT Grant will help the individuals to grow professionally and provide them with additional marketable skills.”
