The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program increases employment opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries. Developed as part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999, the program is designed to remove some of the barriers, such as concern for losing health care coverage, which may keep people with disabilities from going back to work.
Under Social Security rules, people with disabilities who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can continue to receive benefits while they explore work options that may include employment, vocational rehabilitation and other support services from public and private providers, employers, and other organizations.
As an Employment Network through the Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work Program, Workforce Alliance helps people with disabilities obtain access to opportunities and services.
Eligibility
To be eligible, a person with disabilities must be:
- 18-64 years of age, and
- A recipient of a Ticket to Work from the Social Security Administration
