Hospitality Occupations Service Training (H.O.S.T.)

If you are 18 to 21 years-old, and interested in the hospitality industry, check out the Hospitality Occupation Service Training (HOST) program. Incorporating curriculum that was designed by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute, this certification program includes an internship at a local hotel and an industry recognized certificate in one of Florida’s bedrock industries. 

What does it involve?

Programs for young adults, age 18 to 21, who are committed to obtaining:

  • Skills required for employment in the hospitality industry
  • Customer service skills training and nationally recognized certification
  • Certification by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute
  • Paid internship at a Palm Beach County business location
  • Job placement in the hospitality industry

How long does it take?

  • Nine weeks of classroom work, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, which includes field trips, industry tours, guest speakers and more
  • Twelve weeks (or 360 hours) of paid internship with hospitality industry employer

Where will it take place?

  • Classroom sessions are conducted at the Workforce Alliance Central Career Center, 1951-D North Military Trail, West Palm Beach 
  • Internships are at hospitality business locations in Palm Beach County
