TRAINING GRANTS / INCENTIVE PROGRAMS FOR EMPLOYERS PDF Print E-mail

The employer-based incentive programs that are currently available in Palm Beach County are listed below. They are administered by Workforce Alliance and/or the State of Florida.  These programs are enacted and modified by laws at the federal, state, and/or local levels, and can change at any time. Employed Worker Training (EWT)

 

This grant provides funding for companies with the intent of advancing current employees' wages and positions, and to assist them in retaining jobs that provide self-sufficient employment.

 

Businesses applying for Employed Worker Training grants must meet the following conditions:

·         be in operation in Palm Beach County for a minimum of one year prior to application date;

·         be a for-profit organization;

·         have at least one full-time employee not related to the owner; and

·         have a "bricks and mortar" location.

 

 

On-The-Job Training (OJT)

 

A grant aimed at teaching a specific set of skills at the worksite to a new employee. A portion of a new employee's wages may be reimbursed to the employer during the training period. The new employee must be recruited and screened through one of the Workforce Alliance Career Centers based upon the employer's requirements.

 

 

State of Florida (Workforce Florida, Inc.) programs administered through Workforce Alliance:

 

Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)

 

The program provides grant funding for customized training for current employees of existing for-profit businesses to provide them with additional skills and opportunities for advancement.  The companies benefit through increased productivity and employee retention, leading to the ability to compete more effectively in the global marketplace.

The Quick Response Training Program

 

The Quick Response Training Program provides grant funding for customized training for new or expanding businesses. Through this program, Florida is able to effectively retain and attract businesses creating new high-quality jobs. The program is structured to be flexible and to "respond quickly" to meet the business’s training objectives.
